Trustee Vacancies

The Trustee role in education is a strategic, ‘eyes on, hands off’ one which typically involves a commitment of around eight to ten hours per month, including attendance at meetings (around eight per year), reading, preparing questions, correspondence, training and getting to know our schools, including through occasional visits. Board meetings are currently being held virtually however will return to being in person (in Peterborough) when safe to do so.  

As a Trustee, you will be responsible for:  

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction  

  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff;   

  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent; 

  • Ensuring the voices of stakeholders are heard.  

 

The Trust Board’s three key goals for the forthcoming 1-2 years are: 

  • To continue to develop the board and its effectiveness; 

  • To support the new CEO from September 2022, particularly in terms of a suitable organisational structure and long-term corporate planning;  

  • To ensure that the outcomes of the forthcoming Schools White Paper are comprehensively incorporated into the work of PKAT at board level. 

We are particularly looking to recruit Trustees with skills / experience in one or more of the following areas / sectors: 

  • Education (including, but not limited to, education leadership) 

  • Local public sector (health, child welfare, social care)  

  • HR 

  • IT

The Trustee role is voluntary however Trustees are eligible to claim for out of pocket expenses incurred as a result of fulfilling their role.
