Throughout this week, pupils at Ravensthorpe Primary School, part of Peterborough Keys Academies Trust, have been engaged in learning about the significance of Remembrance Day. Teachers have facilitated discussions on why we commemorate this important event and the symbolism of the poppy as a tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in conflicts.

To culminate the week’s learning, a special assembly will be held on Monday. During this assembly, students will showcase what they have learnt about the history and importance of Armistice Day. The assembly will allow the pupils to share what they have been learnt emphasising the themes of peace and remembrance.

Mrs Emma Ward, Head Teacher of Ravensthorpe Primary School said: “At 11:00 AM our school community will participate in a one-minute silence. This solemn moment will provide students, staff, and visitors with the opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices made by the armed forces and to express gratitude for the peace and freedoms we enjoy today.”

Mrs Molyneaux, the school’s History leader said: "We want to help students understand the importance of Armistice Day and to instil a sense of respect and reflection. We believe that by educating our young people about the past, we contribute to a more peaceful future. Ravensthorpe Primary School is proud to play a part in keeping the memory of those who have served alive and to teach the next generation the values of peace and remembrance.”
