'Young Explorers' returns!
PKAT Young Explorers outdoor activities start up again after Lockdown.
The PKAT Young Explorers is a bespoke outdoor education award open to every Year 5 pupil across the Trust. Led by Mr O'Connor, Duke of Edinburgh Award teacher at Jack Hunt School, Year 5 children have the opportunity to learn about orienteering and map reading, using the natural world to investigate science and art and also learn about 'camp craft' which involves cooking outdoors and learning how to put up a tent! During the Covid-19 lockdowns, Year 5 children were given a range of different Young Explorer challenges to try at home. However, we are pleased to say that, with the full re-opening of schools on 8th March, Young Explorers is back, with Mr O'Connor working safely outdoors with children in each PKAT primary school. Details about some exciting opportunities for Young Explorers in the summer term to be announced very soon.
